  • Max II Track Capability & Fit

So what would Adair tracks do for my 2001 Max II (22in tires)?

In NJ... we have no Max dealers and I have the only Max I have ever seen in NJ. ha ha

Don't care about snow. Will the track help me go thru swamp mud? Will they clear the outside exhaust?

Will they swim across a 15 foot creek that is deep and has very little current? If tracks don't help my purpose... what would? Should I pick up a used Max IV with 26 inch tires?

My purpose would be going thru low swamps and crossing that 15 foot very slow moving tributary of the Toms River in central New Jersey.

Yes, I'd spend a few thousand to get my Max II to be super fun. I am retired and all these creeks, swamps and trails are in my back yard.

I might add... my personal preference so far. I drove a Argo HDi and it is very nice... but all business to me. My Max II is way more fun.

Take a look at this link you probably have already? adairargosales - Adair Argo Max II Tracks
This Adair track set up on a max II requires 20x11-8 tires on their 8" aluminum rims with the 2" offset. You will certainly go through any swamp or boggy areas way easier then with just tires and Adair tracks swim well. Check out videos on their site or go to you tube and type in Adair tracks. Certainly a Max IV with the 26" terra grips will go over terrain better then a Max II with 22" tires bigger the tire the better. You may have looked through the forum on here but you can put 25" tires on your Max II. There are several members on here with Adair track experience and I'm sure will be able to answer all your questions well. It all comes down to what you want and if its affordable. Good luck

The MAX II is often overlooked as a little toy. It's the fun little workhorse of the entire line. I've brought home an entire moose and two adults with mine more than once. The Adair tracks will improve the ride and drive ability greatly. As far as crossing any water I always tell people to be very careful entering and exiting. Try to find shallow areas for this as climbing out of a steep bank can cause water to enter the rear vents. I always carry a canoe paddle because I can paddle better than any tires I've ever used. The best way I've found to cross moving water is to wade or boat across end pull the aatv across with a rope. I've tried the float down the river till hitting a tree and sinking, was memorable not fun. Be safe and have fun.

I agree completely about the Max2 being underlooked. If it were not for being sort of hard to service, I'd call it the best overall 6x6 ever. I've pulled large machines out of very bad situations with my Max2s. They just keep performing.

That is exactly how this happened.....Good advise for all machines, not just the MaxII.[IMG][/IMG]

My maxll is 20 years old. I have adair tracks on it. My little Max will go places that I would never taken it with just. Tier's. Swamp, no problem. Snow, no problem. I plow all winter long. Haven't been stuck yet. I look for the worst obstacles I can find. She just tackles all of it. You can not go wrong with the adair track. Best money I ever spent! I have outside exhaust, track do not hit it.

                Wow,

Didn't know where Massena,NY was until I Googled it. I bet you have been thru anything and everything up state there. : )
Do you have any special features on your tracks to help with the snow? I mean... when I order the tracks... I know there are different types. Snow is not one of my main things because it never snows anymore in central NJ.
I am concerned about two things.
I sometimes ride about 300 yards on a paved road to get to one of my swamps.
Even though I am in great shape, my old guy body doesn't really want a ride harder than my Max II gives me now.
                What do you think friend?
                I really appreciate your feedback.

Installing a set of Adair tracks will REALLY smooth out the harsh bumps. Driving over pot holes on any road or trail will also be much better too because the tracks will allow your Max to span the holes that you drive over. Driving over logs is so much easier too than driving over the same log with tires. Driving your Max II with a set of Adair tracks will also be more comfortable too than driving on tires, and enable you to go into places that you only thought about with tires.

The mud in this swamp does'nt look that bad until you see another Max II try to drive through it that has 25" inch Mud bug tires on it. The Max II with Adair tracks had 18" inch tires on it and the Max II with 25" inch , Mud Bug tires on it could almost clear a plastic gallon jug. Seeing how well the Max II with 18" tires and Adair tracks performed in this soft swamp mud, just imagine how well a set of Adair tracks and 20" inch tires would perform in these same mud conditions.
