Hi All,
I am doing a bearing replacement on my '97 Max IV. Axles 1 and 2 are the original cross bolt axle type and axle 3 has been updated to a newer style splined axle that uses outer lock collars, snap rings on the sprocket, set screws on the inner bearings and a bolt on the inboard end of the axle. I have removed all the axles, what I need to know is what part numbers to order when I contact one of the bearing supply houses. Does anybody know off-hand the part numbers for the outer bearings ( for cross bolt and splined axles) and the part numbers for the inner bearings for the splined axle ? Also any recommendations on what bearing manufacturer to use, who makes the better quality bearings ? Also, I read to use 3M strip caulk when sealing the outer bearing retainers to the tub. Where do you purchase 3M strip caulk ? Also do you use the paper gaskets between the bearing retainer halves or just use RTV ? Typically how much grease do you pump into your bearings ? Thanks for any help you can provide with my bearing replacement.
Pete
