hi
Although u could try a new spring in the secondary BUT,,,,,
HIGHLY RECOMENDED BOTH CLUTCHES NEED TO BE A PAIR [u cannot mix clutch pairs and expect good shifting in most cases ]
The clutches need to be setup for 2 stroke
Then tuned for your application
A 2 stroke of 28hp will I assume not make very much torque
Providing a 2 stroke does make enough torque and is an acceptable engine to use
The power band occurs higher up the rev range therefore the sprocket ratio needs to take this into account . Most likely the ratio will have to change .
The overall gear ratio change will help u in the thick mud [ top speed will reduce]
When u do an engine conversion there a many things to be be readjusted to suit install !!!!!!!!!

Changing the gear ratio would be the best and really not that hard as your Max 2 has jackshafts. Make sure your belt is right and not too loose. Also take a movie of the converters when you are bogging down to see what position the belt is in. There are probably some members that have old 2 stroke driven converters that will fit your trans. Max 2 has different ratio jackshafts with the earlier units set up for lower hp and 2 strokes. Unfortunatly most have 40 chain to the axles.Acta non verba
