  • Brake pedal vs. lever

I'm starting to re-assemble my Max IV and I've got disc brake stuff on the way from a go kart place. Seeing a picture of a Hustler Lil Truck made me think that maybe a hand brake would be the way to go instead of the pedal. I have a brake handle around that has a ratchet to keep the brake engages with a button on top to release it, like on a car.

I could attach it to the frame and then run the appropriate linkage to the brake calipers.

What do people think of a hand brake that could lock engaged, instead of foot brake?

    Thanks

The brakes are set up with a pedal for hills, shifting with out a brake on a hill with a T20 will hurt you. They also help some with a down hill descent, if you are in flat land and plan on using only as a parking brake it should be fine.

My new beer holder spilled some on the trails - in it's hair and down it's throat.
    Joe Camel never does that.

Advice is free, it's the application that costs.

Thank you for the reply. Never having driven one of these things I didn't want to do something that sounds like a good idea only because I don't know any better. Pedal it is. I may modify it a bit, it looked like a real awkward reach.

Silly question I know, but do these have a brake or is it something you need to add? I am looking into buying one, but have never driven one

All have brakes, they brake one side to turn.....for some, this is all they have. Others have an additional brake, usually a foot brake that works on a pair of axles. With transmission only braking, you can be in trouble if something catastrophic happens like a chain breaking.......but that is rare.

In short, additional braking is good, but not a necessity.
