Hi, Got a 2001 max 1v and sunk it out of site about 14 feet of water for over 12 hrs, had to rebuild the t20 and now the motor is going, its got a 18 hp engine and would like to know what would be the best replacement for this, is there any special hook up for these machines, I have tires and tracks and replacement 26 inchers for the summer. Can't wait to try it out in the water again, on top this time!

Here is a recent thread with some of the troubles another member had with replacing his engine. http://www.6x6world.com/forums/trans...tml#post149879
I hope you have better luck.

The 23 hp Briggs has the same bolt pattern and crank hight. Muffler is different spacing at the heads. With tracks in snow I think the 18 is at best minimal. 23 hp track IV s I've driven are a lot better especially loaded heavy or in snow. Make sure to use the original governor spring to get proper throttle response. I have the Briggs muffler # in a notebook if you go that way.

thanks, I will go with the 23hp, I have driven with the 18 and it worked fine even with the tracks, I figure with the other 5 hp, it should be awesome, When I order the 23 vanguard, What would I have to do to make sure that all works right? Just typing out loud here, The proper key start and fuel line set up, and the right throutle hook up but what is this governer set up, they don't come set up right? I have to order the right muffler as well? thanks for your responses, This is getting pretty expensive, However the machine is made to float, not set at the bottom of a beaver dam for half a day. I will learn from this to be more careful! Trapper

The 23HP Vanguard is a great engine. I have it in my Hustler 980 BIGFOOT and it has LOTS of power. Just make sure you get a 1" keyed crankshaft so you can use the same drive clutch as your 18HP Vanguard. It'll bolt right in as Msafi65 said."Looks like you have a problem with your 4 wheeler........you're missin' two wheels there"
