This may be considered a lazy question but, I'm currently about 12-14hrs (work) away from my 6x6 to get more info (serial number and photo's, still haven't got a card reader to post some pic's.......soon!). Anyway I have a broken solid axle (left rear) and am looking to assess the overall condition of axles, bearings, sprockets etc. and having to decide what all I should replace. While looking over 6x6 World - Amphibious ATVs 6x6 and 8x8 max argo attex hustler terra tigers and more and Googling I can't seem to find an answer. On my machine (alledged 1996 Max IV) I have an outside the tub frame rail that is about 3-4" outside the tub, both side's, all 6 axles go thru this then into the tub. I've tried to find pic's of such on the web but, no such luck. Is this something that could be a mod, upgrade or custom and will it affect axle length? Thanks.

Not sure yet. When I get home I'll have to check it out. I just got back on here to say that I just came across a forum topic from back in 2008 and it's highly likely since it has tracks that what I have is: Additional frame rail for additional support, Outer bearing cages with bearings, and wheel extensions. With 2 weeks vacation starting tomorrow and 2 weeks in September I can just feel myself winding up tearing this whole thing apart, painting, powder coating, replacing and modifying. Thanks for reply.

It's the additional bearing cages and rail that comes with the factory track set up. This is because with factory tracks they need wheel spacers that bolt to the wheel hub to move the tires out for the track clearance they then put a bearing holder on the outside to prevent axle bending or breaking (though it must have failed in your case). The axle should be a standard length... Check and see if you have the extensions bolted to the normal hub and this will confirm.1995 Max IV, (#11582), 23 HP Vanguard, Custom aluminum bellyband/roll-bars with direct winch attachment. Recreatives track kit.
Work in progress. Front windshield and canvas enclosure for winter use.
