I replaced the rear 530 o-ring chains. The new chains are the same length and I had a heck of a time getting them installed. The chains are so tight that there is almost no free play. The manual states that there should be 1/2 to 3/4 free play for proper adjustment. I only have 1/8 to 1/4 inch free play and the chain Idler spocket adjustment bolt is to short to get any threads started to hold it in place. My question is can I just run the rear chains with out the Idler sprockets until the get stretched out.

Yes, just run it around the yard like that and make a few turns and it should loosen up. You can also put the idler in place and then put the chain together. Pull it together with a pair of needle nose vice grips or pliers and put the link in. It will stretch either way.

I have also found rear chains tight when new. If you can install the nut on the adjuster a couple threads run it that way. In a half HR use they will adjust in. After about 8 hours the 530 doesn't need much adjustment. I prefer mine with about 1/4 inch of free play. To tight and the t-20 is hard to shift. Good luck hope your riding soon
