I would like to replace my motor mounts with heavy duty ones. The mounts flex just revving up the engine in neutral. I would think a that heavy duty ones would help keep the clutches in better alignment and should work much better overall. Any suggestion's on what to purchase .

I also used thick 3/8 fender washes to shim the stand upwards a bit as well as shims under the engine to get the desired belt tension.

The original mount is a Lord 11729-127. This mount has a shear value of 35lb and a spring rate in shear of 156 LB/in. In compression, it is good for 300LB with a spring rate of 1600 LB/in.
The 1/4" deflection isn't a maximum, it is how much it deflects at full load. That means a spring rate of 640 LB/in in shear (about 4x the original). It also says it will deflect 0.09 at full load of 560, which is a spring rate of 6222 LB/in in compression (also about 4x the original).
Which is all to say, you're right, it will deflect quite a bit less. I wonder how much more vibration you'll be passing to the frame as a result of that extra stiffness.

I hope the same will apply to my max II...I just noticed one of my mounts is broke and I have pulled out the 18 horse briggs in mine just to make it easier. So I Just ordered 4 of the same mounts for mine....I did notice 2 other mounts or pads that the frame just sits on and was wondering if the motor mounts are all the same on the max machines.. I am also going to pick up an angled grease fitting, to see if it will eliminate always having to lift the engine to get the rear drivers side fitting greased. That is how I found the broken motor mount on mine... Thanks Keith
