  • max for waterfowl

How many of you here use a Max for duck hunting? And for other types? I had wanted an 8x8, but after liking at size I'm really curious about a Max 4 for the same purpose.

Breadstain, although I've never owned an 8X8, I've seen Rock Doctor's videos(in particular) and it never ceases to amaze me how much he is able to haul with his machines. I had a MaxIV that I used for duck hunting a good bit. The back seat can be removed for more hauling room if needed and they are very dependable machines. Go for all the engine you can get, look for a later model(if Max), they have splined axles- a huge improvement over the earlier models with pinned sleeve type. Where are you located, and what kind of terrain will you be in- marsh, flooded timber, harvested fields? That would help you decide if you will need tracks, or if only a good set of tires will do. Hope this helps

Also something to beware of: if you will be hunting with a retriever, be SURE to dog proof the chains, they will shred any flesh that gets between them and the sprockets. And you don't want that.

I've talked to several people that have used them to duck hunt and they all said they liked them for that. I agree with the dog proofing. I'm going to do some mods on mine to make it safer.
