I have a Max IV that I am having problems with. When I put it into forward it wants to move immediately. It goes into forward with no problem. I have to pull back on the handles to keep it from moving as soon as I put it in forward. It is also very difficult to get it to go into reverse. I have to play with the throttle and handles to get it to go into reverse. It does not move immediately when I get it into reverse. Is this a chain adjustment problem or should I be looking in a different area?

That sounds like you have a clutch that doesn't completely disengage. It could be your idle was set too high, belt is too tight, or an issue with the clutch itself. The levers on a max are spring loaded in the forward position. When in forward gear this is drive, when in reverse gear this position is brake.-----\

Never argue with an idiot, they will drag you down to their level, then beat you to death with stupidity!

Try holding the sticks in the neutral position when you shift. When you have the sticks about midway through their travel the bands should be about equally opened, this will also reduce grinding as the shifter is moved through the ranges.DESTRUCTION is just a couple of vowels down the street from DISTRACTION

Here is a how to video on the split shifter on a MaxII.....Other machines would be similar. http://www.6x6world.com/forums/conte...t-shifter.html
Here is what I did to put my handles beside the seat
Clutches can be adjusted, however, I suspect that you really mean to adjust the belt tension for easier shifting???
