  • Shift levers on 1995 MAXIV t-20. How much motion F and R ??

Then the trans is in neutral. The left stick has 2 inches of forwards motion and 4 inches of backwards motion. The right stick has 1.75 inches of forward motion and 6 inches of backwards motion. This is measured from the top of the sticks with a level ruler. The F-N-R lever has 6+ inches of forward motion to get it to F and 3 inches of backwards motion to get it into R. Obviously the linkage is way out of wack...

    Thanks

Typical new maxIV has 7 inches of total play in steering levers measured at the top of the stick. If the springs are still installed that hold forward, you just pull back enough to remove any slop then measure to full back stop. The 95 probably has a sliding rod at the shift levers. I remove them and replace with new ones that are easier to adjust or stack washers on both sides of the slider to make it solid. Adjustment is done by moving washers and is much easier with the engine removed or tipped forward.

Thanks for the info. The springs are still on the machine.
