    Broke a drive belt out in the pond any body know a trick to measure for a new one the old one is shredded

      Hi 79 ford, it depends on which motor u have. the kohler 23 using a 780 comet clutch uses a 44 1/8 long x 1 3/16 wide. kohler 25 using 1190 comet clutch uses a 44 9/16 long x 1 3/16 wide. u could just call recreatives for a size and price. good luck mike

        Well the guy before me swapped a honda on my max and so the belt I wound up using is like 44 long and 1-3/16 wide I think it may be slightly lose but is currently working great

          Proper length is with belt pinched arround the center of the drive clutch and pulled away from the driven, 1/16 inch of clearance at center of drive clutch. The engine can be shimmed at mount plate to adjust.
