ok please look at the pics of my max, no sn located anywhere and ive checked the whole machine. someone gave me a big max that was very damaged and turned into a meat wagon, while building my tracks this weekend it hit me when the two are side by side. the meat wagon side walls go straight up the whole length of the body and mine has flares in the front. hoping this will help in determining the age, also the two t20's are different, the wagon had a t20 with the u channel for the plungers and mine has the flat bars that pivot on the t20. any clues??

The early Max2's with the 295's in them had a serial number stamped on the frame along with the sticker tag on the left side of the body. The number on the frame may not be readable or complete, look on the upper most flat piece above the shifter handle, some cleaning may be necessary to find it. Don't sand it hard or it may disappear.sigpic
My new beer holder spilled some on the trails - in it's hair and down it's throat.
Joe Camel never does that.

Oh and the early Max 2's (pre 77 I think) had curved bodies at the front, this was eliminated on later models to run the tracks.sigpic

The "U" channels on the T-20's appeared right around 1975, before that they were the pop cycle sticks. If I'm not mistaken, it was very shortly after that when the design was sold to Skid Steer (Recreatives and Hustler) and moved to Arkansas. The first MaxII's were produced in 1969 and according to Mr Wallach's book were made from ABS for about the first 6 months of production. I have (the remnants of) serial # 578 and it is/was ABS.
