Just picked up a 95 max with a 14hp brigs vanguard. Having some trouble with it running correctly so I'm debating swapping in a 2stroke 680 out of a 97 polaris sled. The engine is complete and ready for swap.... I'm not a big fan of 2 strokes and not sure if this application will make me happy... Has about 110hp and unknown torq

I wouldn't do it. You would be basically devaluing your machine by $1000 or more! The 14 is a good starting point, and it is easily upgraded to be a 16hp. If you want more power and to keep trail ride ability go with a larger Briggs. It's a bolt in operation.l like to buy stuff and no I don't do payments!

I usually support the thought that you can't have too much power. But really, you can't really use more than ~50hp on these machines. That is just some practical advise on "usable" power. Of course if you wish to be nuts, make sure you get some good video for us to enjoy!

I'd do it in a heart beat, but I don't trail ride much. It pains me to say it, but if you're wanting it to run trails you're better off with a gas four stroke or a diesel. If you do end up using the big Fuji, install a cage & harness and bring it to Ashtabula in June.Stuck in the seventies- not in the swamp.
