That stuff is know generically as mass loaded vinyl. You can find other sources for it which may cost less or offer better damping. In general, the heavier the better it works. It aint cheap, and unless you can caulk all holes in the compartment you're trying to sound proof you won't get the best results.

Is the exhaust loud or are you just trying to reduce the noise of the motor, clutches, belt, etc?

          Sorry, I just can't resist:

The Dynamat posted in the links is generally used in rebuilding street/hotrods and the like. As mentioned, it ain't cheap, but does work well. But... in an amphibious rig? There's slots in the floorboards, vent grills in the back, etc. I have doubts it'll be worth the outlay of dollars. I've used rolls of foil covered "bubblewrap" type insulation you buy at home centers in my vehicles. You can aluminum foil tape it into place, and it's much cheaper, about $50 for a 3 foot wide 20 foot long roll.

Dynamat is a fine product, I've got it in a custom I.H. Scout2 I have as well as in my Coot, and on the underside of the bed on an American Sportworks LM200 UTV. On all the machines I put the dynamat on, it cut the road noise way down and in the case of my Coot, keeps the heat away from my bottom.
It is pricey, but on an amphib you don't have to use large quantities, on my LM200 UTV I maybe used 1 square foot and it really cut the motor noise way down.
I agree with Mike, that its more likely the muffler is shot than a real need to quiten the engine bay.

              Hi
Most OEM mufflers are not insulated .
Personally I have a 2 into 1 muffler 1 1/2 out let and 1 1/2 inch of insulation on each side of outlet and the muffler is quiet . The muffler is 10 inches long .
If u were looking for the quitest muffler use at least 12 inch long and 5 inch diameter
