  • Max II service manual

So it looks like I will be rebuilding the 1985 maxII I picked up on my own as the closest shop is over two and a half hours away and by the time they bill me out I could have probably bought a new one It actually drives and runs ok. There is a lot of in and out play in the bearings, Im talking half inch or more and Im sure there is some up and down play as well. I also need a heated throtlle cable as the throttle cable broke last week as soon as it got cold here although this was much my fault. Nonetheless it now needs a new cable and I want a heated one. Im sure this has been asked a million times but searching I could not find a good answer but does anyone make a service manual for the MaxII. These axles and bearings seem to be different from the other MaxII that I have that is a 1990's model. Im sure I could figure it out. I havent even really started to look at it yet in detail as I figured I would try to find out if there were any service manuals out there available or ever published. I have a parts manual that I recieved with the machine that will be helpful. Im guessing that not enough of these were ever manufactured to make it worth Clymers time to make a manual for them. It still may be a spring project as I still have to get one of my Chrysler sno-runners up and running. I rebuilt one and now on to the other before we get snow. If you have never seen one of these sno-runners look them up on you tube. I never saw one until I stumbled across one on craigslist and bought it just cause it looked so interesting. Not totally practical, but interesting..

Call RI. I believe they have a service book available. The in and out play sounds like the locking collar was not installed correctly or the wrong bearing was used. I'm guessing they used a cheap set screw bearing instead of the locking collar r3 rated bearing to save a few bucks. I would just check out the how to's on here and go from there. Buffalo bearings can get you the right bearings or RI. You may want to replace some of the inner bushings as well. If you need more help, just ask. We enjoy helping people get a pile of parts back on the trails.
l like to buy stuff and no I don't do payments!
