actually now after reading a couple posts here I'm not sure that mine is a 1992. Mine has the round headlights but it also has the vanguard 16 hp motor. I also got a very good deal on mine, paid $1700 for it but it came with tracks, windshield, front winch, back rack, and new tires. I had to rebuild the transmission but that's it so far, that's why I need to know what kind of oil it takes in the T20 transmission.

Type "F" is an OLD fluid type, and oil technology has come a long way in the past 40 years. I doubt true type F is even still being made, instead, it is probably Dex/Merc type III
in the bottle and just labeled type F. The limited slip additive bolsters the lubricating quality of the conventional oil in the old style ATF's. I just skip it and use a high quality full synthetic ATF and have had good luck with it. I also have gone to using 1 1/2 qts of fluid. T-20's were designed for 1 qt, and if too much fluid is put in you will end up with an oily mess in your tub when things heat up expand...using the extra half quart does not create a problem.
A t-20 would benefit from a dry sump system (hey Matt, hint hint) Pull the fluid out of the case, add a pump, filter cooler, and 3-5 qt reservoir......and it might save a little horsepower too.

hi ,
Type "F" transmission fluid typically older ford transmissions [other makers did use this ]
Mixing the trans fluids Dexron 111 and Type F is passable in an emergency situation in a T20 only
Never mix trans oil in an automotive transmission .
Auto trans mission use hydraulics T20 do not .
If I remember correctly the use of type f in a T20 is ok as it makes the trans more responsive .This is from the T20 owners manual . Never mix fluids .

ipswift1, When you say drain it, do you mean removal of the t-20 and drain out the fluid, or just drain the fluid, by whatever method. Also how dose one identify the type of fluid in the transmission that is drained or pumped out.
