Flush mount led taillights

I just finished installing 6" long flush mounted LED taillights on my 1999 MAX IV, look and work great, very bright. Some work involved in the installation. Cutting the holes for lights was the biggest job.

Having to cut those holes was the main reason I went surface mount lights, then converted them to LED. That and you can't see flush mounts off-axis. With surface lights, someone can see you from the side.

I do like the looks of the surface mount lights though. How'd you cut the oblong holes?

If you want to convert all the way to LED, you might consider 9 watt landscaping PAR 36 bulbs. They're as bright as the OEM's with a tiny fraction of the current draw.

Thanks Mike, yes, LED's do look good. I'm hoping to find some good LED headlights too. Not sure what happened to my photo, My first time trying to post pictures. Here is something 6x6 folks want to thank about if going with flush mount lights. Keep the upper body plastic pieces and shavings incase of the need to made body repairs. Use it to weld cracks or fill a hole. I will have to fill the holes made by the headlights rings retaining screws, (MAX IV).
Mike, nice mad flaps on Jennifer's MAX. Where did you get the material to make one piece flaps like that?

The material is baler belt from a hay baler. I purchased it by the foot at Tractor Supply.

Thank Mike, what is the width on that belt you bought. And Adondo where did you buy your headlights, store or online, also that is a Max II you have connect. Which has an opening of 4-1/2", that would fit a Max IV, it also has a 4-1/2" opening.

Got mine from eBay. LED 9W PAR36 12V AV DC High Power Lamp Bulb 5050 LED 800LM WW | eBay

It's about $50 for a pair, but they're pretty much "heirloom" bulbs. What's nice is the low current draw, since alternators on small engines aren't exactly little nuclear plants. When I'm in the sand dunes, I run with them on for visibility. Everyone out there has an orange flag on a stick and runs with lights on for safety. A lot of places like Florance Oregon require the same things, so it's nice to not have running lights pulling 8 amps all the time, especially when the same output can be had with less than 2.

Mine's a Max II. All the lights are LEDs, even the little red/green marine lights I added.
