  • Max IV engine tray

I bought an engine tray from another member to replace the missing one on the machine I'm rebuilding.

I'm finding that it is about an inch too short to fit my mounting holes where the old rubber isolators were. My machine is a '94 and the tray came off a '96. Its no big deal for me to make slightly longer tabs or drill new holes and make it work, but I wanted to be sure that's the right thing to do and I'm not missing something.

Anyone know if the mounting hole position changed a bit between those years?

    Thank you.

The '94 and '96 engine stand shouldn't be different. Do you have a pic of the issue that you're having with yours that you can post?

Here is a view from the side, showing the spacing on the shelf is a bit too short. The rear width matches up fine with the mounting holes.

Is there any sign of being bent in shipping? I'll measure one this afternoon and send dimensions of the feet. I don't think the mount placement was different since the earliest IVs.

I think msafi65 is right, it was probably slightly bent during shipping.

I don't think its bent. The box arrived in good condition, and the tray is too short by the same amount on both sides, and it does not show any of the cracking/peeling on the pain that you'd have with a bend.

Hmmm, could they have used different engine stands for the Briggs and Kohler engines?

My tray is from a 96 with a kohler and replaced it with a 84 tec engine mount so the mount holes would line up for a new briggs install. I was just to lazy to re drill it but the frame mounts lined up perfect.
measurements front to back on engine side are 17 3/4" centerline of slots. Right side is 17-3/8". Width is 25-1/2"and 21-7/8"centerline.
Were there any other holes in the side frame for the mounts? Hope this helps
