Being a fairly new owner with a Max ll and not drivin it much because of the snow (keep getting stuck, bottoming out)
Anyway I was reading some old posts about driving techniques, and pushing the levers forward to fully engage the trans. I didn't think I needed to push forward as the springs hold the levers forward ?? I know these are basic questions maybe I need some driving lessons

The springs do keep the laterals forward enough to engage the transmission when there isn't much load on the machine. Whenever you increase the load by going up a hill for example, you may have to push forward. Without pushing forward, the drums in the transmission can slip in the bands and not transmit power to the wheels. The springs just don't have the force to overcome all loads seen by your Max.
