  • im going to live up to my screen name once again!!!

    just worked out a deal on a motor for my racer project going to use the liquid cooled fuji-polaris twin 500 that i origionaly had in my first max! im getting all the parts and pieces including the custom exaust dan and i mad to fit the max! origionaly i used this motor with the polaris clutch and the origional t-20 2stroke driven clutch and it was a compleate miss match the max topped out at 45mph but it got up to full speed fast!!!! real fast!!!!! and it would spin all 6 tires and slide sideways through every turn!! it was a blast! i was thinking of getting the factory polaris driven clutch to match up the clutching and belt set up and moving the t-20 in the frame to make the bigger diameter driven fit im hopeing this will cure some of the clutching problems if all goes well i might have a shot at having it running for ledges!!!!!!!!
    they dont call me mad because im angry!!!!! im just a little crazy thats all!!!!

        Check your drive gear ratios. You may want to change the jackshaft sprockets to smaller ones. I did the mod for the polaris driven clutch on my t-20. It needed a shaft sleeve and and key. I modified the t-20 shaft for a wider key but i think you can do it with a step key instead. I have photos some place on this site.

          thanks for the tip with the keyway i figured id need a bushing of some type. what meterial was your spacer made of? i was thinking abought knoching out a spare t-20 input shaft i have kicking around. do you think a stepped key would be strong enough? i have seen them before but in a real limitted selection. do you know of anywhere with a good selection? thanks for the help/advise and hope to see you at ledges!! even if this project isn't finished in time ill be there with the 25 kohler trail rig!!!

            Here is the Polaris setup



            A step is never a strong as a full key. My setup has a full key and is captive in the sleeve.

              update... today i picked up my tires and rims for the racer, 21" rawhides on k-lock rims, and yesterday i won a polaris secondary clutch on ebay! slowly all the pieces are comming together!
              they dont call me mad because im angry!!!!! im just a little crazy thats all!!!!
