  • Max IV ignition switch

My max iv has an obvious townied up starting / stopping ignition system. Key switch to turn on and a push button kill switch. I believe the kill switch is bad or shorted due to the fact that when i try to restart it i have no fire. I can disconect it and it starts right up. I want to eliminate the kill switch altogether and have only the key switch to start and stop the machine. Could someone find the switch i need on ebay and post me a link please. I am a complete electrical dumb dumb and have no clue what switch i need to buy.
Its a 1992 machine if that matters with the 20 hp kohler magnum
    Thanks

How about the key switch and the entire wiring harness from a Max with a 20HP Kohler Magnum?

JP, I've got a Magnum with a clutch for mine that I'm planning to put in. The shaft size on mine is huge (1 3/8" I think) what size is yours? I'm just curious if they're all big.

Joe, The Kohler is locked up because somebody took the muffler and left it outside. If you'd be interested in having another parts motor around, this one has your name written all over it.

You don't want to use any Kohler engine with anything larger than a 1-1/8" shaft, otherwise finding a clutch will be nearly impossibly, and if you do find a clutch it will be RIDICULOUSLY expensive. You could always have the output shaft of the crank turned down to 1-1/8 or 1".

My engine came with a clutch so I'll stick with it as long as it works. If something doesn't work, it sounds like I'd be better off with one of the newly available 22HP HF engines and a 1" clutch.

Thanks Plumb. after further looking I've decided the knob job i bought this machine from has simply jacked up all of the wiring. Think I'm gonna just buy the whole harness from JP and give that a whirl. Stay tuned though because like I said... I'm an electrical dumb dumb. BUT having the complete harness "should" make it relatively simple????

I found the mating connector for this switch. It is a Delphi 56 series part # 02977233
2977233 - 6 cavity Packard 56 series Black unsealed Female connector

The Delphi 56 series seems to be an automotive standard. Its the same series that is used on the JLO engines and vintage voltage regulators along with most small engine ignition switches.
