I ordered new chain adjusters the roller ones on the rear chains do they still go under the chain? And is it normal to have a bunch of slack on the top of the chain? And what size chain do I need? I'm new to this please help..

When dealing with tensioners, you have to think of how the chain drives the axles. On a MaxII, the center axle is connected to the trans. The front and rear are driven from the center. On the front chain the lower side of the chain pulls on the front sprocket when in forward, so the tensioner goes on the top. In the rear it is the opposite.
I believe in 1997 the MaxII chain was still #50, but in 1998 it was switched to #520 and 530 "O-ring"
Many times the exact year of the machine gets confused, so it is best to verify with the chain you have.Comment
