  • Battery size for Max IV

I searched and was not able to find what battery size the Max IV should have. I have a Kohler 25 and noticed that the battery seemed to struggle a little and figured it might be worth replacing so that I don't get stuck.

Do you know what the specs are on the battery. I am not sure what I have in it is the right one and I would like to get the correct battery for the machine and that will fit in the tray.

    Thank you

U1R is the stock battery. Most are 190 - 300 amp. Iv found stock size as high as 350 amp. The Briggs and Stratton battery they Lowes stocks in there garden section is 300 amp and seams to be a good battery. The lower amp ones will just barely roll that 25 over when hot. I know a lot of people will recommend putting a larger automotive battery in the IV. If you mount one on the engine frame you should buy an anchored plate or AGM type as the vibration will break the plates loose.

My new beer holder spilled some on the trails - in it's hair and down it's throat.
      Joe Camel never does that.

Advice is free, it's the application that costs.

        hi
After owning many small engines for my business I have learnt that what the battery makers say on the batteries is not always correct .
Always buy a quality battery ,cheap ones last 12-18 mths
Always load test a battery this will separate the cheap ones
As u apply the load tester wind up the load to at least 300 amps current and at least 9 volts
Cold cranking amps is a battery industry specification [these are always r higher than actual amps ]
        Auto electricians deal with reality
Try and get the next size up from u11 --- 450 cold cranking amps if it will fit

If a negative cable is not installed from batt neg to engine block install one
Check voltage drop of positive cable and negative
Install next up cable size if in dought
Check for battery voltage at starter solenoid wire while cranking ,if less install a relay
