    Anyone have any input on the Buffalo's ? Pro's / Con's ???
Just putting feelers out as I was looking at them or a Max II ?
Like the idea of a work horse with the Play toy mentaletty !

The Buff is a great machine, I have always wanted one. Its definitely more geared towards work than play. They seem fairly steep price wise too. There are a ton of nice Max2s out there, its small and nimble and will deliver the best bang for the buck. A max 2 can also work by carrying heavy loads, pulling trailers, etc. I think for the price of one Buff you can purchase two well equipped Max2s.

I've owned several Max2s, several Max4s, but no Buffs. I've driven three Buffs over the years though and I do like the machine. They are fairly rare, but two have popped up from forum members recently, and I felt both were attractive price-wise.

I think member "ArgoJim" might have a lead on one (Buffalo).

Jim has a few I think. I got a project one in my backyard I would part with as well. Just needs an engine, new bed, and a quick go through.
l like to buy stuff and no I don't do payments!

I spend quite a bit of time in a buffalo truck. For the terrain and loads we haul I change the gear ratio at the jackshaft. Takes the top speed down to about 15 mph. Most of what we do is travel or hauling and pulling trailers. With stock gearing it was hard on belts. That said I would put a buff truck up against most any other AATV especially if we all have to carry our own fuel. They are easy on fuel. They are a bit sketchy swimming because of the weight of the bed and the low vents. A real work mobile that will play well with others. I have hauled my 4 wheeler in the bed, piled wood as high as it can be stacked and found out 4 barrels will fit in the bed. My kid hauled close to 2000 pounds of cargo and fuel plow a 14' boat on top into his camp once. It was way overloaded but made it. The II is a mini workhorse that likes front weight in the bogs. Dosent have the weight to push through the brush that a buff truck can. Light enough to transport in a 18' river boat. Both good machines.

I like the truck, can be fun and nimble. 21's bounce you to death, 26's are a little better, 25 Rawhides ride much better but need to have about 5 pounds to stop the porpousing.

Still a IV lower tub, nuff said!!!!

My new beer holder spilled some on the trails - in it's hair and down it's throat.
            Joe Camel never does that.

Advice is free, it's the application that costs.

I love my buffalo truck. I use it more for 'play' than I do for work. It has held up pretty good on the trails for me. I took it to a trail ride on Grand Island here in NY and it did great and would go through anything the max II's would.

The main pro of the buffalo, in my opinion, would have to be the utility bed (that mine has). Newer ones have the dump beds that are nice as well. The only real work that I do with mine is when I help the local snowmobile club pick up trail markers after the snowmobile season is over. The utility bed with wood side rails worked out perfect for me with the large amount of signs I picked up.

There are a few cons that I have experience. The biggest con is that the 'rider forward' design of this machine, just like the Max IV, makes rough trail riding very hard on the back. You feel everything! The Max II's are nice because you are seated towards the middle of the machine, making for a somewhat more comfortable ride. The other main con that I have seen, mainly because of my operator error, would have to be the low vents under the rear deck. When you pick a bad spot to climb out of a pond and drop the rear end too low, these vents allow you to take on water very quickly...it's not fun. :bang head:

Overall, I am very happy with my buffalo truck! It would be a nice choice for anybody looking for something that they can work and play with, but I would tend to lean more towards a Max II for just play.
