  • Max IV fuel tank removal?

I have an 07 max IV and I'm need to clean out the fuel tank. What is the process and how long does it normally take? Any special considerations that I need to be worried about?

Never done a IV but should be like a II. Drain fuel, remove fuel line, remove gas cap, undo strap bolts, drops out.
If there is any more someone will chime in.

My new beer holder spilled some on the trails - in it's hair and down it's throat.
    Joe Camel never does that.

Advice is free, it's the application that costs.

I've done this before and still have a hard time remembering but I believe the only difference from what Jim mentioned may be the way that the straps attach on a IV. Some had straps with a plastic locking mechanism similar to a zip tie. You can release the straps and reuse them when you put the tank back in. Once you get under the tank, you should be able to use a mirror to see the straps and how they are held in.

Well, after practically standing on my head (I'm 6,3) and getting good and dizy after being in that position for too long, I got it done. It went as Jim stated, with little fanfare. Since I'd never done it I though I'd ask just in case there was anything particular I needed to be concerned about. Found a tablespoon or so of dirt and particles from the inside of the rubber hose in the tank. Replaced the majority of the fuel line over to metal, with just enough new rubber fuel line to make the connections.
I still have a hesitation as I hit the throttle and an occasional lack of full RPM. I guess there is still a few grains of sand in the tank I didn't get. Anyone know how to adjust the hesitation out of a 27 up Kawasaki? Idle is just right, so that's not the problem.
