Well I have finally started rebuilding the 80s max 4 I have , have the frame out of the tub, rusted real bad . My plan is to blast the frame and scab the sides with some 1/8 flat stock, I believe the added 1/4 of frame width will fit back in the tub ( I hope )I disassembled the T20 ( There was no oil at all in it ) but I believe all inside is ok , got a seal kit and two double groove plungers coming and am sending the bands to transcrafters for relining.
all bearings are 62 mm ( had to cut all off the hollow shafts) so looking for a economical source for those.
The oh 160 ignition is shot, but I have a old 1972 Rupp 440 2stroke twin with a clutch( That according to my 16yr old stepson sounds PISSED OFF when it runs ! ) So I think well go back with it.
The frame is what worries me the most with the amount of rust ( part of the side frames flanges are rusted away.
I guess my biggest concern is throwing money into a money pit with no end in sight.
