  • Matchine tires with tracks

Hello forum members. I have a 1996 Max II with a 23hp Vanguard engine (new). I purchased and installed a set of 5" wheel extensions from Richard's Relics. I am using a set of Carlisle Power Trac II 21" X 11.00 " X 8" NHS 4 ply tires with tubes installed. When I bought my machine used, along with it came a used set of Argo tracks - plastic type. I don't know if they were ever used on this machine. I am wondering if it is o.k. to use the current tires I now have ( they are not rawhide tires ) and if they will match up o.k. with the Argo tracks. Are there any issues I need to address or be concerned about. I hope to move through the deeper snow and tow a plastic tote (ice-fishing type) carrying firewood. Thank you for any input.

The Argo track may be to tight on the sides of the 11" wide tires. They are usually run on 10" wide Argo tires. Try a tire in the guides to se if it pinches on the sidewall. If tight it will break down the sides of tires rather soon. If ok for width slide in on top of tires and check for tub clearance. You need 3/4" on top minimum. If all is good link up and inflate tires to 5-6 psi and check for clearance under center tire with vehicle up. Looking for 2-3" sag. Adjustment is by removing or adding links and 1/2 links plus tire pressure. Try to get proper tension below 10 psi. Good luck
