Hey guys I'm rebuilding a 1980s max 2 and the frame is shot so I'm rebuilding the whole bottom section I was wondering were I can find the exact c channel size I need since the flanges for the outer bearings bolt to the metal then to the tub I can't go thicker or it would leave slop in the axle bearings because the steel it had stock is a certain size so I pushes the flanges together to hold the bearings if I went bigger it would leave slop right thanks

Don't think you'll find pre made channel. Measure your old frame and have it bent at a steel or sheet metal shop, or if you wish to use large c channel steel take careful measurements off old frame and fit width and height wise accordingly. A sheet metal shop should give you gauge of metal.
Bearing holes will denote where the properly made frame lays and inner rails are just a guide for bottom, if you could use the old jack shaft box that would be great.sigpic
My new beer holder spilled some on the trails - in it's hair and down it's throat.
Joe Camel never does that.
Advice is free, it's the application that costs.

The newer frames are 11 guage steel aprox 1/8". Frame rails were all. Bent from flat as Jim mentioned. If you can get some pics of a newer frame you will see that the factory added several gussets in places around jackshafts and transmission mount area. I think parts website has pic of new frame. If yours is badly broken or rusted away you may be better off looking for better one. I'm sure there are II frames out there.

okay thanks guys i was looking at my frame and instead of the inner bearings it has bushings im going to rebuild the whole bottom section of the frame and gusset some of the stuff on top and mount new inner bearings instead of the crappy bushings i would find a new frame but there really hard to come buy plus even if i find one it would be really pricey to ship. i dont mind rebuilding the frame i love building stuff and putting a part of me in somthing i build if u know what i mean. i just wanted to know if i could get the c channel it came with or if i could use a tad thicker steel if i couldnt find what it came with thanks for the help guys
