  • Poping Max IV

I know by now everybody has heard there fair share about max aatvs having
a agravating poping in the drive train. I blocked it up today to see if I could
find the problem. All chains, sprokets and idlers seem to be runing true as they
should. Everything looks to be in good shape and has been adjusted properly.
I even took out the floor pans and drove the cottin-picker around for half a
day and still no luck. Any info would be helpful and apreciated. Btw any trail
rides in east TN let me know. Thanks

How old of machine do you have. If everything is lined up on an olde machine some previous owner may have removed a link instead of replacing the chain when it was worn out. Having an incorrect number of link will cause the chain to climb up on the sprockets and make the popping noise.

Other things can be loose set screws and the sprockets sliding on the axle then catching the edge of the chain and popping back into place.

Oh, I saw one once that as so dirty and so much build up of grease and dirt on a sprocket that the chain did not sit all the way down in the sprocket and it popped.

It is a 97 model,I did not see any chains trying to ride up on any spockets and I will have a look at the set screws. Btw Im in Wartburg TN about 50 miles west of Knoxville. Thanks

        Wartburg

        Sniper,

Best of luck on getting your Max dialed in, I don't really have any thing to add.
I am in Nashville, and we get to Wartburg quite often in the winter and spring to kayak. Sure is nice out there, are there any good trails to ride? We might be getting a ride together in August, and just trying to figure out some good options. I have ridden Coal Creek, great ride but mostly rock.

Brimstone recreation is a pretty good place to ride if you go to the royale blue location in scott, campbell counties. It to is a pay site but a little cheaper than windrock. Is about 45 min from me, I done a little bit of riding up there on a 4x4 4wheeler a few years ago and places I went there was a lot of mud. Yes I said it I have one of those to. We have two 6wheelers, argo and max but havent had either up there yet.

Push and pull really hard on the axles while the machine is off the ground. Your axle may be sliding in and out while turning.

I went to the Utube website and typed in " Royal Blue atv " in the search bar . I then watched the second video from the top that came up . When it rains the trails at " Royal Blue park " hold water in all of the low spots . From watching the video on Utube , I think it would be great riding in an amphib , and worth the drive to go there .
