  • Max IV Finally!

After months of searching I finally picked up a 2007 Max IV. Seems to be in good shape considering it came from a coastal area. I've already started getting the maintenance up on it. I need to drain the trans fluid and I'm going to replace the bearings due to rust issues on the outer flanges. Which brings me to some questions

I'll be ordering my bearings from Buffalo Bearings. Do they know what parts I will need ? Do they carry new flanges or do I need to find a different supplier for those?

My machine is still together at the moment. I was hoping I could start working on it while the parts are being shipped.

Thanks in advance for the help!

You probably won't get all the trans fluid out. Some will remain. The total fluid amount is 32 ounces. See how much you get out. I use a bulb-type drain hose (simular to what outboard motor fuel tanks use) to suck out most of the fluid.
I use NAPA brand ATF type FA (28 ounces) and 4 ounces of Equa-Torque, also from NAPA. Mix both together to make one quart (32 oz.)
The T-20 has two square-head drain bolts (9/16" wrench). The top one is for filling, the lower one drains an overload of fluid. One quart will fill the trans, excess will drain out the lower hole. I use teflon tape on the threads before bolting them in.
I've read many times here that Buffalo Bearing will know what bearings you need. Flanges? I don't know.

You will enjoy your machine. They are indeed a lot of fun.
