  • My MaxII is running and won't shut off

My MaxII is running and won't shut off. I just got it running. After reading this forum I found a black shutoff wire not connected to my Briggs Vanguard motor. Can anyone tell me where the black wire connects to the motor.

Insulated connecter on fan shroud next to cylinder head. I can't remember if front or rear head with in 3" of the spark plug.

That wire is the engine to switch ground, the ignition shut off is directly above that and will be a small (3/16ish) stud probably having a male spade nutted to it.

I can see where on newer motors it is an insulated stud near the engine label. I have no stud on my 12.5 HP Vanguard motor. I have a 1990 MaxII and I am not sure is this is an original motor. It is missing the hand start rope pulley.

The 12.5 was used for a couple years. There should be a wire coming out of the mag coils that goes to ground to kill ignition
