I'm thinking of picking up a max2 as a parts vehicle for my max 4. If they are similar years, are most of the parts (except for the obvious ones I.E shift linkage or other different length parts) interchangeable?

Why in the world would you want to worry about bearings? Bearings are a wear item. Would you re-use an oil filter on a second car...even if it only had a few hundred miles on it?
New (economy brand) bearings are approx $12-19 each depending on size if bought from Buffalo Bearing. BEARING SPECIALIST SINCE 1919
Save the headaches and buy new.

Had the same reply before thebuggyman1 well advised you, there are also year changes in both the Max II and IV where the bearings got larger. Though you could shorten the II's axles and redrill them if axles all are pinned style, use Drew's guide.
Or build the II and play with it as it's much more nimble or give it to the wife, then you're in good.sigpic
My new beer holder spilled some on the trails - in it's hair and down it's throat.
Joe Camel never does that.
Advice is free, it's the application that costs.
