  • tranny fluid and bearing question.

is type f good for the t20. that's what I put in my max iv while I had it out. the ole girl is back together and I have not used it yet after changing the rear axle bearings. also found 2 more needing replaced. next spring I will change the other 2 and put a new engine on this lady. one more question when I put the new bearings in there was a little pin sticking from the bearing housing . I take it this was to fit into a recess in the flange to keep it from spinning inside the flange. well I used the old flanges which were in great shape but did not have recess for this pin. so I ended up pinching it between the two flanges. I probally should have snapped it off. any feedback on this. was it stupid on my part the bearings look to be perfect. antiseize went on everything to ease it apart the next time if I have to. thanks for all the help and responses hope I can also pass along help to someone.

I prefer type F in the T20 with 4 oz. of posi differential additive. I know a lot of members like synthetic ATF but I've had several get very noisy with it. The bearing locater pins in a lot of aftermarket bearings should be ground off or removed. Just get them flown and it's ok.

Type F is good for the T20. For the bearings, you should pull out the pin before putting them in the flanges.

      Edit: Too slow
