  • maxIV weekend outing

This is my first weekend outting since fixing my Max. I went to two local ATV parks, one in Jessup Georgia the other in Daisey Georgia. I didn't have any one with me to video so I just took a couple of pictures. They both had some nice trails-some steep climbs and alot of mud. The 1st and second pictures show a mud hole that was full of roots and fallen trees. Fun stuff for a Max. The third picture is gumbo mud with out water. I have already learned that the max doesn't like this kind of mud and is much better suited to very soft mud with a foot or more of water. You can see the Carlisle super lugs on the back in the second picture. I need more testing with these tires but so far I am quit pleased with them.

That's a pretty good "stuck" Dan. I like the Bad to the Bone saying on your engine cover too. Glad that you are up and running again.

Nice pics Dan...those Carlisles look BIG....and that is a proven tread design. Seems like all of the discussions about tires come back to the Rawhide tread pattern being the best overall tread design...

As far as the thick mud, I am not ready to admit that it is bad for amphibs....I think we need some testing. Meinfeld's crazy video has me really thinking. I wonder how his Hustler would do in that.....full throttle with clay flying everywhere?? He TORE UP that red clay he was riding through. We already know that the slow approach doesn't really work well for us in that type of mud. On the down side, with the big tires we run it will take a LOT of power to do that....I don't think my Honda would be enough, but I am gearing my Hustler down by 30%, so we will see. However, you and MudBug have powerful machines....

The next time I get together with MudBug, I am going to play with this theory some more....

I also still have my set of 22" Kendas that I can put back on that would help me test this theory easier....
        Hammers should have warning labels.

The thing that gets my Max stuck is the mud build up between the tires and the tub. If your running in a pure mud invironment the bear claws might be better suited because you have so much clearance. My Max will stay on top of this type of mud if I can keep it moving, but the mud buildup takes me down fast! When I went through another area with very soft mud and some water the max just acted like a tank and kept on going!
