I'm looking at a 99 Max IV and was wondering what the value range on this machine would be. Not sure on the on the hours it has the 16 horse vanguard motor which starts up and runs good, front right and rear left bearings are new. Tires are pretty much new has the factory roll bar and wind shield, snaps for the top/enclosure but dose not have the top. From what I can see the chains are clean not sure how much adjustment is left. I'll b test driving tomorrow. I'd appreciate any help on high and low prices for this machine. Oh and its pretty clean thru out, he has re black painted all the metal.

Is it actually a 1999? Lots of sellers misrepresent the year of the machine. Let us know what the serial number is and post some pictures if you could, that would help A LOT and we can give you a much better idea."Looks like you have a problem with your 4 wheeler........you're missin' two wheels there"

Hmmm, looks to be a complete and the bottom of an Attex tank trainer next to it.sigpic
My new beer holder spilled some on the trails - in it's hair and down it's throat.
Joe Camel never does that.
Advice is free, it's the application that costs.

A value is hard to place on one like this. Especially when you can get a new one from Mudd Ox for less than $11k with solid splined axles, fuel injected Kohler, etc. What is the guy asking for it? I've always felt the minimum engine for a Max4 to be an 18hp, and you are two less than that, and if its lost compression probably much less than that. The rear drive chains are a bear to get to and you'll have to pull the motor to do so, and I've always felt that was a terrible design.
I see machines like this all the time for about $3k, the more options they have, and the bigger the engine, and less the hours, the more they are worth.

I think $3,000 is fair but would probably shoot for $2,500. We've seen newer bodied Max IV's with hardly any hours, splined axles, beadlock wheels and larger motors go for $4,000. Then again, availability close to you may not be the best. If you are on the east coast, you would probably be able to find a lot more deals than you would on the west coast.

Thanks mike, I'm located in the mid west (KC). I've been watching craigslist semi local, and they seem to go for that 3 to 4 thousand range. The market isn't real good hear for them. He's come down to $4,200 ( claims everything has been gone over) granite I haven't talked price with him yet. We'll see.

Then again, money talks. Offer him something low and let him sit on the offer a few days.
