  • Reverse issues

I'm having issues with my Max IV not braking on the left side in reverse. If I jack up the Max and get all tires off the ground, the issue goes away. Getting all tires back down on the ground and I get nothing. I'm giving it gas and testing on a road covered with sand, so steering is pretty easy. What could be the issue?

Sounds like your bands may need adjusting. With the tires off the ground and no load on the machine, it is most likely working correctly because the band is grabbing enough to stop the spinning tires. However, it's probably not grabbing enough to lock that side up when the machine is moving.

I found out that the diamond shifter on the left was not being fully engaged. The retainer plate that keeps the diamond shifter from popping up and out was preventing it from fully moving all the way back. I have a custom T-20 brace and apparently the extra thickness of this and the retainer didn't allow for a full range of motion. Here's a pic of my brace minus the retainer. I'm glad this was a simple fix!

Good to hear you got it solved. These machines are a lot of fun to play with.

While the t20 is out, you may want to think about replacing those output gears, the teeth in the photo look pretty warn. Great idea on the extra support, I think all machines should have that.
