  • Idle for a while

My Max 4 has sat idle for about two years. What should I do to get it going again? It has set in my garage with the wheels and tire off the ground. It was held up with 2x4 under the edge of the tub. I did that because it (the max 4), did not sit level on the ground. I know I'll have to charge the battery. Anything else.

I would replace all the fuel with fresh, especially if it possibly had ethenol fuel. Check fluid levels of engine and transmission or better yet change them.

I'd change the oil, lube the chains and bearings and if there was any gas left in it remove the tank and flush it and the lines out and probably take the carb off and boil it out. I've had so much trouble with gas the past few years I crank mine up and let it idle a little every time I walk by it.

Get it on the ground and check that the lower tub still has clearance under the chains, after 2 years on 2x4's the body could have formed up against the chains if the wood was on the outsides.
        sigpic

My new beer holder spilled some on the trails - in it's hair and down it's throat.
        Joe Camel never does that.

Advice is free, it's the application that costs.

ouch-that's a real good thought there.
