Can I get some feedback on tracks used at slow speed, mostly in mud and vegetation. Some vegetation is 12 feet high some 3 feet, the 3 foot stuff doesn't seem to be a problem the 12 foot stuff holds the tub up. We did notice the rubber tracks worked better than plastic but we also had to weld a push bar 2 feet in front of the machine so it wouldn't hold up the tub as bad. Also just a note we did put some of the John Deere tractor weights we had at the farm on the front, it helped a little. The machine is 18 hp 2000 max 4. I've posted this because most of what I read is about snow.

Maybe you don't have enough tractive force. By that it could be that your gearing and horsepower isn't up to push the machine and go thru the obstacle at the same time.
The risk you run from trailblazing is hitting something solid and damaging the machine. I've always thought that 18hp in a Max4 is on the light side, especially with factory gearing and clutching. Try a red spring clutch before you go to any great mods. The red spring keeps the machine in lower gearing and the engine more in the rev band.
I know that even in a powerful, low geared machine, when I go thru dense cattails in the swamp, I have to go slow with 3/4 throttle or more.

I'm going to weld a roller bar on the front about 1 foot out in front. We use angle iron on the 8n those tractors are light that's why we use them but now we're getting into slop hence the reason for buying the max. I am defiantly ordering that red spring everyone talks about but when I do the spring that's just a motor removal and the round clutch RIGHT????
