  • How to remove sprocket from under jackshaft

The centre wheel axle (under the jackshaft) has three sprockets in one lump (one joining axle to jackshaft, one to front axle, one to back axle).

I am trying to remove this big sprocket thingy to get the axle out to do bearing replacement. I can't find the set screw/s on it. Does anyone know where on the 'lump' this is?

Also, I have removed the jackshaft for easier access, but still can't see how I'm going to shift the sprocket thingy, even after removing the set screw. Can't fit bearing pullers in anywhere...

Most of you have probably done this before...would appreciate any tips!!

    Thanks

What is your serial number? Some of the IIs that were made during the change over period to snapring retainers had both types of axle installed check the sides of sprocket for snaprings. If none clean between the sprockets reall good. The setscrew will be there. Before you try to remove any setscrew clean it well and make sure your hex wrench fits completly into the socket full depth. If you round it out by being dirty you may never get it out.

I'm fairly sure my serial no is 7000 and something, but can't remember without going out to have a look.
      It's a 2001 model.

nether, mine is a 2001 max 2. i have a old triple sprocket in my hand. if you look at the sprocket, one of the hubs is alittle larger than the the other between the center sprocket and outer ones. the larger hub has the set screw in it. hope that helps. when i removed it to install a new one i had to drill out the allen screw. johnboy va.

There are 2 set screws in there stacked, heat to melt the loctite helps some.
