  • Access to drivetrain Max 2

I just bought a Max 2 and it seems like a lot of work to access the motor and drive train. Has any come up with a modification to simplify this?

I don't let one leave my shop with the seat and floor pan attached. I cut the plastic just in front of the seat mount bolts to make seat removable. This allows access to battery and main chain adjusters. Other than that open it up.

some members with the max 4's remove seats and part of the top tub in order to expose everything. the just install a single seat on the frame. not sure i've seen any max 2 done this way, but could be done. some other members may reply about this. johnboy va.

Good idea. I'm a mechanic and I like doing maintenance and keeping up on things. The easier things are to get too the better. I'm going to cut out the deck above the engine and make a hatch like you'd have in a boat. Should make the engine and trans easily accessible. I bought this Max 2 for 500 dollars so I can go through it and make it suit me. Thank you for the help.

I fixed this issue on my wifes Max II, but it requires a second donor upper body. If you look through this album, you will get the idea Max II Modified engine cover - Amphibious ATV Pictures EDIT: here is the thread from when i did it. Several years later now and nothing I don't like about the modification. http://www.6x6world.com/forums/max-a...ine-cover.html
