There's one section on the body that is in need of some drastic repairs. Any suggestions. The lip has a weak spot where it meets the rest of the body. Any ideas on how I can reinforce this?

I think your best bet is to use a plastic welder, assuming that is HDPE? You are going to have to do some cleaning of those edges and maybe even some patching with some pieces of HDPE depending on how closely you can get the two sides to meet in the middle. Maybe plastic weld the underside and then melt HDPE on top to fill in the groove so that it's smooth on top.

I've watched a ton of videos on plastic welding and invented a few tools. I've tried a lot of different methods and the problem I'm coming up with is when I heat the plastic I get a brown muck that comes to the surface, it might be the release agent they used. I've done all of the proper cleaning and even scraped it some. Tomorrow I'm going to try a method that seems the best for such a large gap. I'm going to heat up some wire mesh and embed it in the plastic and use it for structure. I'll let you know how it goes.Comment
