    Max iv 950T need help!

    We broke left rear axle and I am looking for tipes to change it! Im pretty machanical but it doesnt look easy to get to since its on the clutch side pf that 27hp kaw so im wondering if anyone has any tips or tricks as to how to get this axle out and new one put in i have parts ordered already just need to figure out how to go about it?

    Many people remove the engine and engine stand for access, good time to change the t20 fluid.

      I send a pair of KD 3492 snapring pliers out when people are in the bush and have to change a snapring axle. New axle will probably not be grooved for snapring and should come with spacers. If you have help or a lift pull the engine frame and all. Remove belt, throttle and choke cables, fuel line and electrical. If it has factory winch the wires at controller come off there. Engine and frame weigh about 140 pounds. If you can't pick it remove rear seat and walk the whole thing forward on top of the frame. These outboard breaks are usually stuck in outer bearing. You will probably have to pull the bearing cage at body with the axle. There is an end bolt and washer in the inner end with set screws at inner bearing. Tip on removing belt,roll off inside of lower pulley and pass between body and clutch bolt. This may be the toughest part until you learn the drill. You can text me at 907-388-8582 if necessary.         I suggest taking pics of everything you remove (nut, bolt, wire), using a cell phone. This way you can record the steps you took. It helps memorizing what you did.
        Reverse the steps, using the pics as a guide, upon re-essembly.

            Well we got the machine out of the swamp it was only a two and half mile treak on two tires and one track! It got a little crazy when i would get into the mud and the track would over drive the two wheels and turn me in pretty tight little circles but with some help from a quad pulling we the one way we walked it out and now have in a lighted shop to start the wrenching process! Thanks for the replies and if anyone else has any advice please chime in this is a new to me machine and will take any advice!

              Well engine is pulled and broken axle is out now just waiting on the new axle kit to show up!
