  • New Roll Cage

I finally finished my new roll cage. It makes everyone "feel" safer. The grab bar gives the passenger something nice to hold on to. 20161020_012617889_iOS.jpg20161015_210412671_iOS.jpg20161015_210631732_iOS.jpg

Nice looking cage. A bit safer than an original bar, I'd say.

What tubing did you use? Approximate weight? Thanks.

                  Looks great.
What it lacks in ground clearance it makes up for with traction.

The tubing I used was the black pipe from Home Depot. It is heavier than I wanted but it will bend with the pipe bender from Harbor Freight. (if you fill the tube with sand first) It weighs in at about 100 lbs total. I added the pipes in the front over the fuel fill so that the winch would pull on the whole cage. I have also had the whole cage powder coated in metallic green. Pictures to follow later. I am currently editing a video of the whole process.
The added weight is nice when riding alone. It helps give more traction in loose dirt and steep hills where I ride.

100 lbs isn't too bad at all really and at least you know that schedule 40 gas pipe will provide you with sufficient protection in the event you do roll it over.

Cage all done and powder coated

Here are a few photos of the finished cage out in it's natural environment. I also replaced the head light and tail lights with LED's. The head lights are 4" spot lights from Walmart. They only run about $35. All you need to do is make a bracket to bolt them to on the inside and they stay nice and secure. Way better than the factory ones that can pop out.
