  • Max4 / john deer chains

My John deer dealer says he has the same chains that are on my max. Does anyone know if this sounds right or should I get them from Richards. We certainly get good pricing from John deer because of the farming equipment. FYI they haven't seen them, there assuming that the chains are the same that's used on the combine.

Chain is standardized. When you get #50 chain, regardless of where it comes from, it will fit in place of other #50 chain. You don't have to buy chain specifically for your ATV. Whatever you buy, just make sure you get quality chain from a reputable brand. There are a lot of threads here on the site discussing the best brands that last the longest if you look. Several members choose the US made Diamond brand chain (not the foreign Diamond brand chain). A quality chain will outlast inferior chain by a large margin but you pay for that too.

The John Deere chain will work. I'm not sure who makes their chain or how the quality is though. Here is a post saying they had good luck with John Deere: https://www.6x6world.com/forums/max-...html#post65266

I also recommend high quality chain. Worth the money. I personally have used Tsubaki 530 o-ring and MFG Supply 530 o-ring chain, both with excellent results.

Does $11 dollars per ft sound right for good quality chain and does anyone no the approx ft needed for a max4. I would like to redo everything, good or bad. They sell in 50 ft rolls. I did see china chain for $3:50 per ft, I definitely want the best chain, thank you.

www.MFGSupply.com, under their Motorcycle section, has 530 O-ring chain, that has 9700+ pounds strength (same as Tsubaki) for forty-nine cents per pin.
You can buy it by ready-made lengths (example 104 pins) or by the pin if you don"'t find your length there.
I have these chains on my Max IV for three years now with no problems.

Rusty I see your posts and pay attention to what you write but with no disrespect are you shure 49 cents. I only ask because I haven't found anything under 3 dollars per foot. I am looking them up right now.

Oops, my bad. I meant " per pin". I fixed my previous comment.
Thanks for bringing this to my attention. I didn't mean to confuse you, or cause doubt. Sorry about that.
