  • Aluminum Max II front cargo rack

    IMG_1362.jpg

I've been looking for a front rack for quite some time. OEM racks are discontinued. The one-size-fits-all racks didn't suit my needs or my budget. So I decided to fabricate my own to mount a herbicide sprayer.

I had intended to shred willow bushes growing in the beaver swamp on my property this winter when the ground froze solid; but it never did. My next best hope is to kill them to eliminate the beaver's favorite food. No food=no beavers. My ASV Posi-track weighs 5 tons with the 72" Brushbuster on it and would sink easily even though it has 18" rubber tracks. Same with my Ferguson farm tractor; it has calcium filled drive tires making it extremely heavy too. Once again the Max II comes to the rescue.

I already had some 1x1x.125" 6061 T6 aluminum square tube on hand. And a piece of 3/8" square rod and 1"x.125" flat plate were left in inventory too. It's TIG welded using 5356 filler rod 3/32" diameter. It goes on and off with 2 bolts of the new winch mount. I can just remove the 10 gallon spray tank to access the gas fill cap.

The only thing that's not finalized yet is the 12VDC power connection. I could simply hook up to the Max's battery. Or place a spare 200 CCA garden tractor battery in the foot well; but it would slide around on the plastic floor. I have a Cobra brand JumPack that doesn't see much use. I'm going to give it a try first.

With the wireless remote winch and the sprayer front rack, I think the immediate upgrades to the Max II are complete.

That's a very nice way to mount your tank. Ive found over the years my II travels in the bad swamp better with front weight. Good luck with the beavers. Can you trap in your area?

Yes, but not limited to that only. The PA game commission has declared beavers a nuisance on my property and granted me the privilege to exterminate them any way I see fit.
