We understand your frustration, but it is not the fault of your machine. It IS the fault of your insurance company. The manufacturer was not required to use the automotive style (17 digit) VIN, they simply started started with a serial# in 1969 and went in sequence.
To solve your problem, simply make up a metal tag that says V.I.N.# 000000000000xxxxx. 17 digits with zeros in front of your current serial#. Then pop rivet this tag just below the manufacturer serial# tag.

I wish it was that easy 17 digit vins have a sequence of numbers and letters is certain spots to tell them were it was made year model ect.if they run it and they cant find the vin same boat.also understand that they were not mandatory but ins dsnt care most even argo use 17

My new beer holder spilled some on the trails - in it's hair and down it's throat.
Joe Camel never does that.
Advice is free, it's the application that costs.

I bought a '99 Max II and darn glad I did; what a work horse.
What I cannot figure is why you were so quick to blame Max as the cause of your insurance snafu?

Glad you finally got it sorted out. I'm in Pickering Ontario and also have a Max IV, My Max is a 2007 and I have an Ontario ownership for it and it's insured through State Farm.
