    I have been reading through all the Max sites and thought there was something about frame cracks on some models but can't find it again. I got a 1992 Max 2 that I am pulling axles and replacing bearings and was wondering if the steel frames had any stress crack problems. I thought while it was down this far I would pull the frame and reweld the parking brake rod back and look over rest of frame while there. Might as well change transmission and engine oil too! Are there anything else that might need checking or redoing while its out of tub? It has 250 hrs and has not been hurt but just have time to go over and check things out. Thanks for the help!

    I've owned several Max2s and several Max4s. The cracked frame is more of a Max4 thing on earlier models. I see it on other peoples Max4s as well, especially in the back where the motor platform attaches to the frame. Those machines have typically been repowered with large engines. While I've never seen the issue in a Max2, I suppose the same issue could apply, but the way the motor fits in a Max2 transfers torque to the frame and drivetrain in a much more regulated manner.

      All the older machines I had, had the triangular piece beneath the trans break at the welds. Yours may and should have the 3 crossmembers which may help stop this.
      But while you have the frame out, if you have plenty of time I would fit a set of inner bearings. There are a few pictures of others conversions. Breaking an outer bearing will ruin your day with bushinged axles.
