  • Relocate starter

I had to replace the starter gear on my maxII. What a pain in the neck. I’m not a fan of having to pull the engine just to pull the starter when I know this plastic piece will need to be replaced again. I noticed tapped holes on the oil filter side. Can I relocate my starter to that side? I’d need to turn the oil filter 90 degrees, would this cause a problem?

OK, what's going on with the crankshaft? Tapered shaft adapter?

My new beer holder spilled some on the trails - in it's hair and down it's throat.
    Joe Camel never does that.

Advice is free, it's the application that costs.

Haha. Yup. Someone ground this thing to an ugly, weird taper and slammed a pulley on it. We freed it after some cold carbonated beverages and an angle grinder. Started the engine up and killed it down, then machined an adapter. Made it longer so the engine is centered on the machine while we were at it. Balanced it and got it to 7/1000 and called it good. It’s amazing what a machinist on meth and disability will do when you hook him up with a few hundred bucks. He did a killer job on the wiring too. So clean
