Do you pull clutch and put in or is it inside

are you pushing forward on the sticks, or relying on the springs to do the work? if not try pushing. also see if it acts the same in reverse. that will tell if it is a belt/ clutch/ key issue, or a transmission adjustment/ bands wore out issue

It's under the clutch,Is the bolt tight through the center? I can't beleive the key would be gone but ya never know who had what apart!!

The key is in the shaft where the clutch meets the input shaft. You have to pull the clutch off to inspect it. My guess is the key is fine if the machine will run on flat ground but not up a hill. I would adjust the bands (the four bolts on the front of the case that attach to the circular plungers) first and see if it performs better. If the bands are out of adjustment, they will not grip the internal drums and allow them to slip, thus producing no or limited movement (just like riding the clutch on a standard shift auto).

lets talk belt condition and tension before we look at major issues, I doubt you would move much on flat ground with a sheared key. top width of the belt should be just under 1 1/4 inch wide and if you grab the top it should have 1 1/12 (ish) deflection up and down, though I tend to run mine tighter than that

                      And engine rpm.

Wore, improper, mis adjusted belts, and lack of rpm are all issues.

Did I read this correct, your clutch stops attempting to climb a hill?

Primary clutch and driven clutch both are turning when not moving and can you pull the plungers to change o- rings while tranny in max

Unfortunately you have to disassemble the transmission to change the orings. The drums won't let the plungers come out far enough to expose the orings.

Just for the record Dirtdobber,am I wrong in thinking that the only purpose of the O rings on the T20 plungers is to prevent the fluid from leaking out and that if there is no leaking of fluid there is no reason to replace the O rings?
